Abstract
Patterns of distribution and abundance of epiphytes over trunks of Nothofagus pumilio (lenga) is described, in relation to the geographic exposure and height. Results show that the richness of species and the coberture in the south facing exposition of trunks is higher than the north facing exposition; in the south facing exposition there are not differences in coberture and richness in the different levels of height defined in the trunks. Cluster analysis reveals two different groups of species one in the bottom zone and the other in the top zone of trunks. These results are discussed in relation to the possible ecological factors responsible of these patterns.
