Abstract
Mediante la excavación de dos abrigos rocosos localizados en playa Yámana, isla Livingston, y el análisis de los materiales encontrados se proporciona el marco histórico en el cual se insertan las 3 piezas esqueletarias humanas halladas semienterradas en las proximidades de estos refugios. La totalidad de los restos materiales existentes en playa Yámana corresponden a vestigios de ocupaciones de cazadores de lobos finos que llegaron a la zona entre 1819 y 1830. Se concluye que los restos óseos
de un adulto joven femenino de origen mestizo (mongoloide-caucasoide) pertenecen a un individuo que
habría sido embarcado en el extremo sur americano, como personal auxiliar para colaborar en las faenas de caza.
Through the excavations of two rocky shelters situated at Yamana beach, Livingston Island, and the analysis of the materials obtained, the historical frame is given, in which three partly buried human skeleton fragments found near the shelter entrances are included. AIl the found remains correspond to the 1819-1824 sealers occupation. The bone-fragments are of a young female person whose skull corresponds to a mongolian-caucasic mestizo. The hypothesis is that the sealers put on board auxiliary people at the southem tip of America as a cheap crew for their endeavour.
