dc.description.abstractEI anillado de aves antárticas es ampliamente usado por investigadores de varios países, para obtener información de los parámetros demográficos y reproductivos de sus poblaciones. En este trabajo entregamos información del desarrollo del programa chileno de anillado y de las recapturas en el archipiélago de las Shetland del Sur. También informamos de recapturas de Petrel gigante, Salteador pardo y Paloma antártica anillados por otros investigadores. El programa se centro principalmente en las tres especies de pingüinos del género Pygoscelis que nidifican en el área. En la temporada 1986-87 fue extendido a Oceanites oceanicus y Fregetta tropica. El análisis de las recapturas de pygoscelidos anillados muestra que una fracción importante de los individuos retorno cada año al mismo sitio de nidificación donde nacieron.es_ES
dc.description.abstractBanding of Antarctic Seabirds is widely used by researchers of several countries, to obtain information of demographic and reproductive parameters. In this paper we report on the development of the Chilean Antarctic Seabird banding program and give the register of resighted birds on the South Shetland. We also inform of recapture of Giant Petrel, Brown Skua and Sheathbill banded by other researchers. Our program is directed mainly to the study of the three Pygoscelis penguins breeding in the area. Nevertheless, the last season was extended to Oceanites oceanicus and Fregetta tropica. The recovery data of penguins confirm that a significant proportion of birds return every season to the same site of nesting where they were born.es_ES
