dc.description.abstractDesde finales del siglo XX, la figura de Ernst Shackleton y su legendaria “Expedición Imperial Transantártica” (1914-1916) han alcanzado en el imaginario popular una preeminencia que las encumbra a la exploración antártica por antonomasia en la denominada época heroica. Exposiciones, documentales, biografías audiovisuales (biopics), monografías, narraciones gráficas e incluso canciones pop celebran, al rememorarlos, los hitos esenciales de la expedición del Endurance. En este estudio se propone un análisis de los denominadores comunes con que estos discursos culturales, en lenguajes diferentes, epitoman los episodios históricos básicos de la expedición de Shackleton para formalizar un relato canónico y homogéneo, en el que tan relevantes son los acontecimientos y fechas recurrentemente articulados en la leyenda como aquellos otros, también históricos, que son elididos o abreviados en la narración hegemónica, como el salvamento final de los tripulantes del Endurance protagonizado por el capitán Luis Pardo Villalón a bordo de la escampavía Yelcho.es_ES
dc.description.abstractSince the late 20th century, the figure of Ernst Shackleton and his legendary "Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition" (1914-1916) have reached a position of pre-eminence in the popular imagination that has elevated them to a point of Antarctic exploration par excellence in the so-called heroic era. Exhibitions, documentaries, biopics, monographs, graphic narratives and even pop songs celebrate the essential milestones of the expedition of the Endurance by commemorating them. This study analyses the common denominators with which these cultural discourses, in different languages, epitomize the basic historical episodes of Shackleton's expedition to formalize a canonical and homogeneous account, in which the events and dates repeatedly articulated in the legend are as relevant as those others, also historical, which are eluded or abbreviated in the hegemonic narrative, such as the final rescue of the crew members of the Endurance led by Captain Luis Pardo Villalón aboard the Yelcho Cutter.es_ES
