In Robert Island, South Shetland, the temperature of the nest and the air was controlled for five nests of Sterna vittata gaini, two nests of Oceanites oceanicus, one nest of Catharacta skua lönmbergi and one nest of Larus dominicanus. The controls varied in duration for the different nests. The variable is described and relationships between the temperature of the nest and the temperature of the air are established. A thermistor was introduced experimentally in the air chamber of
the eggs of the Sterna vittata gaini, Catharacta skua lönnbergi and Lorus dominicanus and the records are given.
